See the crown jewel of the spring sailing season — March is magical in St. Barths
The 2025 edition of the St. Barths Bucket Regatta will be held March 13–16, 2025. Gustavia Harbor will fuller than usual, with the world’s finest 30-plus-meter sailing ships ready for four days of good-natured racing.
Global Air Charters offers private flights to the world’s biggest sailing events. Our fleet of Gulfstreams flies to International Boat Showcases in Dubai, Miami, and Monaco. Last year, we touched down in Barcelona for the America’s Cup. Wherever there are superyachts and exciting regattas, we fly in luxury to an airfield near the action.
St. Barths is well known as a haven for the ultra-wealthy on New Year’s Eve and a beachy, cultural hotspot year-round. The Bucket Regatta is a perfect chance to see the island buzzing with excitement.
The best place to watch the action is from Gustavia Harbor, and the vantage points from the hills around the small town. These are our tips for enjoying the rest of the island during your regatta stay.

Luxury Lodging
The Hôtel Barrière Le Carl Gustav offers a bird’s eye view of the quay. Overlooking Gustavia Harbor, the Colonial-style property provides exclusive suites featuring private pools and terraces that look out onto the harbor.
If you want to stay outside of Gustavia, head north to the tranquil Plage des Flamands. There, you can go bodysurfing in the gentle waves, relax on the fine sand, and stay at Cheval Blanc St. Barths. This palatial French retreat has 61 glamorous rooms and exceptional amenities.
Spring Celebrations
March is a particularly good time to visit St. Barths because the Lenten festivals are always a party. The St. Barths Carnival (March 4, 2025) is a Mardi Gras celebration in the traditional style with parades, dancing, costumes, and revelry. Also, the locals throw a party for Mi-Carême (March 27, 2025) to celebrate the midway point of Lent with concerts and dancing.
Hidden Beach
St. Barths is loaded with nice beaches, but two deserve special mention. On the island’s far Northwest, head to Colombier and hike down a sandy trail to its beach. To access this secluded alcove, you must travel by foot or anchor a yacht in the tranquil inlet.
For the best snorkeling on the island, we like the serene waters at Gouverneur Beach on the southern coast. There are no buildings on this beach, and it’s closed in by hills on both sides, so it feels especially secluded. But there’s also no shade, so bring an umbrella.
Eau Naturelle
To get off the beaten path, drive to Grand Fond and brave the rugged hike to the natural pools on the coast. Equip yourself with durable shoes and navigate the subtle, time-worn paths in the stone with caution. At the journey’s end, crystal-clear natural wading pools carved into the volcanic shoreline await you. You may even encounter a herd of mountain goats on your way to and back.
Unwind in Style
We can’t get enough of the effortlessly chic beach house vibes at La Petite Plage in Gustavia. With its soft candlelight, cozy seating, and impeccable French cuisine, it’s a dreamy escape. But it truly shines during cocktail hour—whether you’re stopping by for a quick drink or soaking in the stylish scene, it’s the ultimate place to see and be seen.
We also love the jungle garden setting of Tamarin. Have dinner by the lantern light amidst calm pools and stands of flora. Their wine cellar is deep enough to satisfy the choosiest connoisseur.
