See the most hallowed grounds in the game and savor springtime in the South

azalea bushesIt’s a tradition unlike any other. Augusta National Golf Club has been the site of some of golf’s most legendary moments. Walking its manicured hills is a bucket list event for fans around the world.

If you’ve scored tickets to the Masters this year, stop and smell the azaleas – you’re on your way to Georgia in April. Global Air Charters has a reputation for bespoke flights to golf weekends, whether you’re playing with your friends or watching the pros.

Contact our flight coordinators to reserve one of our ultra-long-range Gulfstreams for a relaxing and seamless trip to the Masters. Here’s how to enjoy your time in Augusta.

Choose Your Arrival

If you already have accommodations in town, the most direct route is Augusta Regional Airport (KAGS) on the outskirts of town. Let us know your plans and we will have ground transportation waiting.

If you scored last-minute Masters tickets, finding a hotel in Augusta will be a challenge. However, many visitors choose to stay up to an hour away from Augusta, rent a car, and commute to the tournament in the morning

Towns like Athens, Georgia, and Columbia, South Carolina are commonly used as a home base for spectators during the tournament. Give the whole region a search for your stay, and we’ll find the optimal airport for arrival.

At the Course

Every hole at Augusta is iconic, so you’ll naturally wander the entire course if you’re a first timer.

But there are two great spots on the course for an extended watch.

The hill behind the 12th tee box is a classic vista. There, in the middle of Amen Corner, you will see the players approach the tricky 11thaugusta golf club green and then stare down one of the most famous par 3s in golf.

You also get multiple angles in the grandstands at the 15th green. High up the bleachers, you’ll watch players finish out the 15th, play all the 16th, and tee off on the 17th. As a bonus, you can spy the 6th green in the distance.

The key accessory for the best viewing experience at Augusta is an armless, foldable chair. The elevated 2nd and 7th greens are great spots to put down a seat, with sightlines on multiple holes.

Don’t worry about packing a lunch — the concessions at Augusta are astounding, for both their nostalgic character and their deeply reduced price. The pimento cheese sandwich might be the best $1.50 you’ll ever spend.

On the Town

For dinner after the tournament, the Frog Hollow Tavern is Augusta’s longtime fine-dining celebration spot. Cork & Flame is known for its game – bison, boar, and venison – in a vibey, industrial setting. The small plates at Sheehan’s are more than you’d expect from an Irish pub. For dessert, The Boll Weevil is popular for their massive cake slices.

Explore the Area

augusta georgiaWhen you charter a private jet, you have the luxury of leaving precisely on your schedule. Use that flexibility to take an extra day on either side of the golf tournament and see this gorgeous swath of the Southeast.

Here are three-day trips from Augusta worth the detour. The endless shoreline of Lake Oconee is the place for watersports and lakeside golf. Aiken, South Carolina, is hailed among the most charming small towns in the South. And you might discover the next great musical act in Athens.
