The Twin Cities and the Windy City are undoubtedly two of the cultural capitals of the upper Midwest. We field demand for charter flights from Minneapolis to Chicago year-round.
This route is popular with business travelers, as the two metros are major centers for finance and Fortune 500 companies. If your business takes you between these two cities, a charter flight can be so quick and convenient that you can seamlessly be present for long periods in both cities on the same day, with just a relaxing break in between.
We have also hosted athletes and fans on the way to sporting events between the division rivals from these two cities. Musicians and entertainers often link these metros together on the northern leg of their cross-country theater tours.
For whatever reason you wish to fly from Minneapolis to Chicago, Global Air Charters can make a big difference to your experience on this short route.
Leaving The Twin Cities
We can arrange a departure from several different airfields in the metropolitan Twin Cities, but we are partial to Holman Field, otherwise known as the St. Paul Downtown Airport (KSTP). This is Global Air Charters’ home base and departing from this location is just minutes from destinations like Xcel Energy Center and 3M world headquarters.
Another option is, of course, the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (KMSP) is located just 10 minutes south of downtown Minneapolis. The Signature executive terminal at KMSP is on the south side of the airfield, with convenient parking onsite. What we love about Minneapolis International and its executive terminal is the short taxi route before takeoff. It’s the perfect location for getting in the air quickly.
Another option is Flying Cloud Airport (KFCM) in the western suburb of Eden Prairie. Flying Cloud is popular for executive travel because you can typically avoid the higher volume of air traffic in the Twin Cities metro airspace as you head toward Chicago. Flying Cloud is located adjacent to Lake Minnetonka and near Wayzata’s posh shopping and dining district.
Arriving in Chicago
Chicago is famous for its major commercial airport, O’Hare (KORD), but two other airfields in the area are among the most popular for private jet travel in the United States.
Chicago Midway Airport (KMDW) ranked #17 in the US for private charter departures in 2021, with just over 20,000. Located on Chicago’s south side, it’s much closer to downtown than O’Hare and is generally more liked by residents of Chicago.
Suppose your business is on the north side of Chicago. In that case, we often use the Chicago Executive Airport (KPWK) located 18 miles northwest of Chicago in Prospect Heights and the village of Wheeling. It, too, is one of the most popular airports in the country for private jet charters, ranking #21 in 2021 with just under 19,400 annual departures.
