Kentucky Derby

See the Run for the Roses and These Other Louisville Hotspots

Grab your hats and your seersucker, it’s Derby time. We’re now taking reservations for private jet flights to Louisville, Kentucky for the 151st Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs on May 3, 2025.

There’s no better way to arrive in Louisville than on a chartered Gulfstream. Our cabin attendants can mix up a round of mint juleps and have ground transportation waiting upon arrival.

Contact our flight coordinators to reserve your private jet flight to Kentucky Derby 2025. Here are a few tips for your time in Louisville.

A Stylish Arrival

The most common point of arrival is Louisville International Airport (KSDF). The airport is near Churchill Downs and has excellent facilities for private jet fliers. We’ve also arrived at Bowman Field (KLOU), a satellite airfield that often caters to executive traffic.

Weekend at the Races

The city of Louisville throws the Kentucky Derby Festival for two weeks leading up to the race. There are fireworks, sports matches, a marathon and bike tour, parade, and even a steamboat race on the Ohio River. We’d recommend arriving in Louisville for a long weekend — there will be parties galore.

Friday (May 2) at Churchill Downs is the running of the Kentucky Oaks, the premier race for 3-year-old fillies. Derby day proper is Saturday (May 3), with the iconic race of the nation’s best 3-year-old male thoroughbreds. There are several events on the racing grounds leading up to the main races.

There are still tickets available for reserved seating experiences, premium dining, and even private suites.

What to See

After the races, the East Market District of Downtown is the place to be. Christened NuLu, for New Louisville, is the place for boutiques, galleries, and specialty shops. Because it’s Louisville, there’s bourbon here, too (we like the ultra-modern Rabbit Hole Distillery).Louisville, Kentucky

You might also get out of town for an afternoon and explore the famous Kentucky Bourbon Trail. We think the Woodford Reserve tour in Versailles is worth the hour drive from Louisville — especially when you take the scenic route through the rolling blue hills.

Baseball fans should spend time touring the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory, where the iconic baseball bats are made. Then take a stroll and see the final resting place of Muhammed Ali at Cave Hill Cemetery and Arboretum.

Where to Eat

Louisville is more than just bourbon. It’s a superb dining city that’s constantly reinventing their take on Southern hospitality.

MeeshMeesh is the hottest restaurant in Louisville right now. This Mediterranean bistro serves big Levantine spreads. Go with a group and watch your table get loaded down with falafel, hummus, spicy chicken, and cooling condiments.

The Fat Lamb is our favorite neighborhood corner restaurant in Louisville. You naturally must get the lamb chops, but you should start with fried artichoke hearts, crab and jalapeno arancini, and some cold cocktails.

610 Magnolia delivers a modern, chef-driven take on classic Southern flavors. Chef Edward Lee highlights local produce through complex, artistic presentations. Reservations are required and coveted.

If you want to have dinner but mostly sip bourbon, Proof on Main has one of the deepest American whiskey lists we’ve ever seen.
