Formula 1 returns to the Temple of Speed for the most stylish grand prix of the season
Every summer, we charter private jets to the fabulous locations worldwide that host races on the Formula 1 calendar. From the glitzy spectacle of Miami to the nail-biting finish in Abu Dhabi, there’s a race (and a city!) for every kind of F1 spectator.
If we had to choose, we think the Italian Grand Prix offers the best combination of heart-pounding racing and a gorgeous location. It takes place on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza just outside of Milan.
Monza is the longtime home of this Grand Prix. This century-old racetrack is the oldest in mainland Europe and is known for its long straightaways and tight chicanes. It’s also near to the most stunning locations in Northern Italy.

Getting to Monza
You have a few options for arrival airports in Milan. The largest and most popular airport is Malpensa (LIMC), located 30 miles northwest of the city. If you are staying anywhere near Lago Maggiore or the gorgeous wine country in Piemonte, Malpensa should be your first choice.
If you’re staying in the heart of Milan, Linate Airport (LIML) is a mere 4 miles east of the city center. Global Air Charters can arrange executive ground transportation from either airport to your ultimate destination.
Where to Stay
We’ve fallen in love with the effortless charm of the Hotel de la Ville in Monza. It’s situated opposite the Royal Villa and its park complex, just minutes south of the racetrack. Its award-winning restaurant, The Derby Grill, is the place to indulge in Milanese favorites like osso buco and breaded veal.
If you want to stay in Milan, we recommend the Excelsior Hotel Gallia. This five-star stay blends classical Italian luxury with a sleek, modern edge. It’s located steps from Milan’s Central Station for easy train access to points across Northern Italy.
Raceday in Monza
Autodromo Nazionale Monza is known as the “Temple of Speed.” Its four straightaway track sections tempt drivers to push their cars to the limit — drivers are at full throttle for nearly 80% of the lap at Monza. This makes the Italian Grand Prix a thrill unlike any other on the F1 circuit.
Grandstand and hospitality packages are still available for the race day. Some include tours of pit row, special foods and beverages, photo ops, and more.
Other Attractions
Perhaps the best part of attending the Italian Grand Prix is deciding how else to spend your time in Italy during your stay. Monza is one of the prettiest towns in Lombardy, so plan to spend a few hours outside the racetrack seeing the sites.
Take a stroll on the expansive grounds of Monza’s Royal Villa, among English-style rose gardens and centuries-old hardwood trees. Play a game of bocce in Monza Park, adjacent to the racetrack grounds. The Duomo of Monza is almost as stunning as Milan’s. Finish your day in Monza with the impressive tasting menu at Punto G — or with a pizza in their bistro if you’re feeling less fancy.
Monza is also convenient to other popular spots in the region. It is a mere 45 minutes from Lake Como and 1 hour 15 minutes from Lugano, Switzerland. If you’re there for the race, you might as well spend a few extra days exploring the natural splendor of the Alpine foothills.
