The 2025 NCAA Basketball Championship is just one of the many reasons to visit Texas in springtime
After a month of upsets, Cinderellas, and buzzer-beaters, it all comes down to three games in San Antonio. The 2025 NCAA Final Four will be held April 5–7 at the Alamodome, giving you a great opportunity to visit the jewel of South Texas.
Early April is an ideal time to visit San Antonio. The weather will be comfortable, flowers will be in bloom, and the summer tourist season hasn’t yet ramped up. You’ll be able to explore the city comfortably and at your own pace.
Global Air Charters operates private flights to Texas every month of the year. Our clients often go there for big sporting events, like the Final Four or the Formula 1 US Grand Prix. Some travel to simply get a taste of Texas’ world-famous barbecue. If you’re heading to San Antonio, we suggest an early morning road trip to Lockhart for lunch at Smitty’s.
Since the Final Four weekend will be busy at San Antonio International Airport, arriving via private jet will save you tons of hassle. You can skip the baggage claim and long security lines, and have a Gulfstream airframe waiting to arrive and depart on your schedule.
Contact our flight coordinators to reserve your private jet to the Final Four. While you’re in San Antonio, here’s what you can’t miss:
The River Walk
First-time visitors to San Antonio should spend a few hours ambling along the River Walk. This network of sidewalks along the San Antonio River is lined with native plants, picturesque bridges, and colorful umbrellas shading outdoor cafes. The restaurants, boutiques, and galleries along the banks are some of the best in town, and the paths light up at night for a romantic evening promenade.
For a true taste of San Antonio, the best restaurant on the River Walk is Biga. Chef Bruce Auden is considered a local legend, and his menu features antelope, quail, and other local game. If you just need to stop for guacamole and a margarita, we’d head to Boudro’s.
The City is Your Oyster
When we visit San Antonio, we enjoy making the Pearl District our home base. This trendy complex in the footprint of the old Pearl Brewery occupies a stretch of the River Walk about a mile north of the city center.
One of the Pearl’s centerpieces is Hotel Emma, the best accommodations in town. Luxurious touches abound here, from Frette linens and clawfoot tubs to mesquite-furnished terraces with Redondo tile.
A short walk away, Pullman Market is a versatile culinary destination, with a specialty grocer, quick-service eateries, and sit-down restaurants. Finish your evening in the Pearl with a cocktail and a late-night concert at the underground club, Jazz TX.
Texas Tranquility
Besides the Riverwalk, San Antonio has a plethora of natural spaces that are ideal for a stroll or a bike. The Japanese Tea Garden is a former limestone quarry that’s now home to gorgeous plantings and serene walking paths. The San Antonio Botanical Garden has 38 acres of native and imported plant life, including rare and endangered species.
We also recommend renting a bike and traversing the trails between San Antonio’s five Spanish missions. You’ll weave through many of the city’s historic neighborhoods and see its most famous cultural landmarks along the way.
More Sports
If you can’t get enough basketball, the San Antonio Spurs play the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night, April 4, at the Frost Bank Center. See rising star Victor Wembanyama on his home court against the best team in the Eastern Conference.
Also, that weekend, the PGA is hosting the Valero Texas Open (April 3-6, 2025) at the TPC San Antonio. And for a more niche sporting event, the San Antonio Highland Games (April 5-6, 2025) offer a taste of traditional Celtic competition.
