Here’s how to plan your visit at Art Basel Paris 2024:

Arriving in Paris

The best airport for private jet travelers is Paris–Le Bourget (LFPB). Located just 7 miles northeast of Paris, Le Bourget is Europe’s busiest hub for business and private aviation. It offers VIP services such as dedicated customs and luxury ground transfers.

What to Expect at the Show

Bridge of the Alexandre III and Grand Palais in Paris, FranceThis year’s edition, taking place October 16–20, 2024, is the first time Art Basel Paris will be held at the magnificent Grand Palais. You might recognize this ornate exhibition hall from the fencing competition at this year’s Paris Olympic Games. The Palais recently underwent a thoughtful renovation, resulting in a more comfortable space better suited to public events.

The unique curation of Art Basel Paris will highlight not only Western artists but also provide a platform for voices from Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Collectors can expect everything from large-scale installations to more intimate pieces, with many works available for purchase.

In the main Galleries section, you’ll find contemporary works of extraordinary quality from established artists. But be sure to also visit the Emergence section of the show. This is where you’ll see solo presentations from young and emerging artists.

A Tour of the Eighth

The Grand Palais is an indelible anchor of Paris’ 8th arrondissement. In a town full of famous districts, the 8th (known locally as le huitième) is perhaps Paris’ most iconic. It’s where the Champs-Élysées marches from the Arc de Triomphe to the Place de la Concorde. It’s where the luxury shopping brands have flagship stores on the Avenue Montaigne or the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré.

After your time at Art Basel Paris, spend some time wandering in the neighborhood. See the stately Corinthian columns of the Eglise Saint-Marie-Madeleine. Relax under the colonnades in Parc Monceau. Traverse the Seine on the splendid Pont Alexandre III.

Un Apéro, S´il Vous Plaît

Parisian cuisineNothing is more Parisian than a light drink before dinner. The most dramatic place for un apéro in the 8th is Le Bar du Plaza Athénée. There you’ll sip champagne beneath royal blue swirls of fabric in this très chic lounge. We also adore L’Avenue, an elegant bistro with drinks so good you’ll probably stay for dinner.

Speaking of dinner, it’s hard to find a grander display of gastronomy in Paris than Le Cinq. This three-Michelin-starred restaurant in the Four Seasons Hotel George V is exquisite. The decor is regal and the dishes are opulent.

If you’re looking for a classic Parisian brasserie near the Grand Palais, try Chez André. It’s a lively neighborhood spot for all the French classics, including escargots, foie gras, and steak frites.

A Fairytale Hotel

Le huitième is positively packed with gorgeous hotels. If you spin around and point a finger, you’ll likely land on something divine.

But if you’re looking for once-in-a-lifetime lodging, look no further than the Hôtel de Crillon. This actual palace overlooking the Place de la Concorde is like something out of a dream. Luxurious rooms, top-tier dining, elegance at every turn — it’s a perennial favorite of the jetset.
