The Middle East’s greatest golf course will help decide the Race to Dubai
The European Tour (also known as the DP World Tour) is wrapping up a thrilling 2024 season with a new two-week playoff in the United Arab Emirates. The first of the two tournaments is the Abu Dhabi Championship at Yas Links, November 7–10.
Some of the biggest names in the world of golf have confirmed their place in the 2024 event. They include Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, Adam Scott, Shane Lowry, and Justin Rose. There are millions of dollars on the line and the competition will be fierce.
At Global Air Charters, we have years of experience chartering flights to the Middle East. Zayed International Airport (OMAA) is just minutes from Yas Links and the rest of Abu Dhabi’s sights. We’ve flown there recently for the final grand prix of the Formula 1 season.

The Race to Dubai
The Abu Dhabi Championship has historically been played in January, but the European Tour announced it would change for the 2024 season. It’s now the first event of the DP World Tour playoffs, contested only by the top 70 players in the yearlong Race to Dubai standings.
The stakes in Abu Dhabi will be high. As one of the five Rolex Series matches on the tour, it has an elevated total purse of $9,000,000. At the end of the playoffs, the top 10 players in the standings split an extra $6 million prize pool and receive PGA Tour Cards for 2025.
The Course
The Yas Links are a stunning display of golf course craftsmanship. Architect Kyle Phillips envisioned a true Scottish links-style course in the intercoastal waterway that connects Yas Island to the Arabian Gulf. Golf Digest currently ranks it #71 of the World’s Greatest Golf Courses. MENA ranks it as the best course in the Middle East and North Africa.
Consider the Championship Chalet for the ultimate viewing experience of this year’s Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship tournament. You’ll have access to a comfortable, air-conditioned greenside lounge with a private balcony on the 18th hole. Inside, you’ll enjoy excellent catering and a premium drinks package.
Abu Dhabi: The Best of the Emirates
November is an excellent time to visit the United Arab Emirates since the punishing summer temperatures will have abated. In Abu Dhabi, you can get a more authentic Emirati experience than you will with the modern and international vibes in Dubai.
Abu Dhabi has the best beaches in the UAE on Saadiyat Island. It also has one idyllic stretch of sand downtown along the Corniche.
The Yas Links are part of a larger entertainment district. Yas Island is home to multiple theme parks, the F1 racing track, and excellent shopping. You should also visit the Louvre Abu Dhabi museum’s local collection, closer to downtown.
The Sheikh Zayed Festival, honoring the UAE’s late founder, starts November 1 and runs all winter long. The carnival-like atmosphere hosts musical performances, handicrafts, races and competitions, and many more events.
An Unforgettable Stay
Abu Dhabi is jam-packed with luxurious hotels. So how could one stand out from the rest? When you arrive at the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, you’ll notice why immediately. This palatial beachfront hotel has an 85-acre complex with a private beach. There are two Michelin-starred restaurants on site — Talea for Italian, and Hakkasan for Chinese.
