The U.S. Open 2024

Charter a private jet to the final tennis major of the year while New York City marks its kickoff to autumn

The best tennis players in the world will again take to the hard courts in Queens this fall. The U.S. Open will be played from August 26 to September 8, 2024, at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Novak Djokovic looks to defend his U.S. Open crown and rebound from his crushing loss at this year’s Wimbledon finals. Coco Gauff will return to Queens in search of a repeat Open victory on the women’s side.

New York City is one of the most popular destinations for Global Air Charters’ fleet of Gulfstream airframes. Our flight coordinators are experts at making sure your arrival and departure from the city are seamless and stress-free. Contact us today to reserve your airframe to NYC this autumn.

Here’s what you need to know to make the most of your U.S. Open viewing experience:

Transportation to the National Tennis Center

If you’re going to New York specifically for the U.S. Open, flying into a larger airport makes the most sense. LaGuardia Airport is less than 10 minutes down Grand Central Parkway from the USTA grounds. If you’re lodging in Manhattan, you might choose to arrive at Teterboro Airport (KTEB) just over the Hudson River in New Jersey instead.

If you’re in Manhattan, know that parking at the Tennis Center is scarce and rideshares will be limited. On match day, subways provide the fastest route to the Queens. The 7 train provides service from Midtown stations like Hudson Yards, Times Square, and Grand Central Terminal to Mets-Willets Point Station.

Tennis Tips

Spectators want to see the world’s best play on the top court at Arthur Ashe Stadium. But we think the newer Louis Armstrong Stadium offers better sightlines. You can access this stadium with any ticket and reserved seats close to the court are available for purchase.

When the sun goes down, the Tennis Center is just heating up. Nighttime at the U.S. Open is electric. There are two sets of tickets on each match day, and we prefer the evening sessions to the morning sessions. The temperature is cooler, the party vibes are stronger, and the grounds are illuminated in a neon glow.

Eating in Queens

Several New York-favorite food companies have outposts on the grounds of the USTA Center. We love all the Italian classics at Eataly and the fried chicken sandwiches from Fuku by David Chang. Don’t miss the filet mignon sandwiches from Pat LaFrieda Meat Purveyors.

If you want to leave the Tennis Center and eat like a local, we can’t resist visiting Downtown Flushing’s sprawling Chinatown. For breakfast, line up at the Eight Jane Food stall for jianbing — an egg crepe filled with thinly sliced beef. At lunchtime, slurp down shrimp wonton soup at Maxi’s Noodle. For dinner, we like Szechuan Mountain House for its signature pork belly and mapo tofu.

Other Events in New York

While you’re in town for the U.S. Open, here are our top picks for other events not to miss.

Citi Field, home of the New York Mets, connects to the USTA Center via a pedestrian walkway. The Mets will play several home games during the run of the U.S. Open. Watch them take on the Boston Red Sox (September 2–4) or the Cincinnati Reds (September 6–8).

New York Fashion Week kicks off on September 6. The top brands and designers will showcase their spring/summer 2025 collections at runway shows throughout the city.

It’s always a good idea to take in a show, but early fall is a fabulous time to visit the Great White Way. NYC celebrates Broadway Week in early September with 2-for-1 specials on tickets to several major shows. And the NYC Labor Day Parade will see colorful floats in a grand procession north up Fifth Avenue towards Central Park.
