These are just a few of the events and destinations on our radar for Memorial Day 2024 travel:
Fleet Week, Los Angeles, California (May 22–27, 2024)
Los Angeles holds Fleet Week during the week leading up to the holiday. Held on the L.A.Waterfront at the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro, you can tour active-duty Navy ships and watch equipment demos and live entertainment before heading into the surrounding neighborhood where the local businesses extend the celebration. GAC’s fleet of ultra-long-range airframes is perfect for a coast-to-coast flight to L.A.
Mountain-film Festival, Telluride, Colorado (May 23–27, 2024)
If you’re not a skier, the beginning of shoulder season is the best time to visit Colorado, and the beautiful town of Telluride hosts the Mountainfilm Festival over the weekend. This documentary film fest is a showcase of films about adventure and activism. It’s a great way to experience Telluride without the crowds that accompany its larger film festival over Labor Day.
Boston Calling Music Festival, Boston, Massachusetts (May 24–26, 2024)
Ed Sheeran, Leon Bridges, Tyler Childers, The Killers, and Hozier headline this year’s edition of Boston’s kickoff to summer. Held at the Harvard Athletic Complex along the Charles River, the Boston Calling Festival features four stages of music over three days, including visual arts exhibitions, local food vendors, and more.
BottleRock, Napa Valley, California (May 24–26, 2024)
The award for best food on the festival circuit belongs to BottleRock in Napa Valley. This gathering features food and wine from dozens of Napa’s finest purveyors, served to the sounds of Pearl Jam, Norah Jones, Stevie Nicks, Megan Thee Stallion, and dozens more national artists.
National WWII Museum, New Orleans, Louisiana
Hailed as one of the best museums in the United States, the National World War II Museum in New Orleans will have a remembrance ceremony on Memorial Day, but their renowned exhibitions will be open all week long. After your visit, you’ll no doubt be tempted to visit NOLA’s live music clubs or eat at their world-famous restaurants. But make a special note this weekend to visit New Orleans Greek Fest (May 24–26, 2024), where you’ll drink ouzo, eat baklava, and see traditional folk music.
Soul Beach Music Festival, Oranjestad, Aruba (May 22–27, 2024)
There’s no reason every Memorial Day trip needs to be a domestic flight. We think it’s also a good time to get to the Caribbean before the summer tourist season is in full swing. The Soul Beach Music Festival in Aruba is in its 22nd year of hosting star-studded beach parties and concerts by the biggest names in music. This year, Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men, and DJ Jazzy Jeff will headline the fest, along with DJ sets throughout the week, which will have you grooving to smooth R&B with your toes in the sand.
Wherever your Memorial Day travel takes you, our airframes have room for you and your entire crew to relax. Contact our flight coordinators today to discover how we start your vacation long before you arrive at your destination.
