Travel Tips for the Big Game

The NFL Championship is a challenging travel weekend. Follow these tips to see the Big Game in New Orleans.

The 59th edition of the NFL Championship Game will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. This stadium has hosted the Big Game more than any other venue, and New Orleans knows how to welcome a raucous crowd.

Still, traveling to the football event of the season always presents its challenges. Organizers expect over a thousand private jet arrivals, and hundreds of thousands of visitors overall, to descend on the Big Easy for championship weekend.

New Orleans will put on several events during the weekend, and its world-famous restaurants will be bringing the Cajun spice to the festivities. No matter how you spend your time in NOLA, you should spend at least a few hours on a food tour of the city.

If you’re planning to attend the Big Game, contact our flight coordinators immediately to reserve an airframe. This is one of the busiest weekends of the year for private jet operators.

Here are our tips for making your Big Game travel a super experience.

Your Choice of Airports

New Orleans’s main airport, Louis Armstrong International (KMSY), is a modern facility with excellent amenities. It’s also further away from downtown, which is a drawback for travelers seeking a quick arrival and departure.

If time is of the essence, consider arriving at Lakefront Airport (KNEW) instead. Just five miles north of downtown New Orleans, Lakefront is a favorite among private jet travelers. Its Art Deco terminal harkens back to the golden days of aviation. It is less congested and has first-class FBOs that provide VIP services, hangar space, and other amenities.

Arrive Early, Leave Late

The closer you book to the day of the Big Game, the less likely it is that any parking will be available. If that’s the case, then “drop-and-go” flights might be your only option.

We can make these arrangements with the local airport authority to ensure your flight reservations align with your schedule of events in town. In general, flexibility is maximized by arriving early and departing late.

If your travel plans allow for it, stay in town on Sunday night. Most of the private jet traffic is expected to leave in the hours immediately after the game, leading to longer waits on the taxiways.

Arrange Ground Transportation

You can arrive at the Caesars Superdome by rideshare or on foot if you’re staying nearby. But don’t leave it up to chance, or deal with the surprises of surge pricing. We can arrange ground transportation to and from the airport with one of our many executive services in the city.

Get the Full Experience

There are several must-do events leading up to the game. Start by visiting the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center for the NFL’s Big Game Experience from Wednesday, February 5 through Saturday, February 8. It’s like an immersive NFL amusement park, with autograph sessions, memorabilia, and much more.
