NASCAR Cup Series Championship 2024

The 2024 racing season ends with a showdown in the Valley of the Sun

It’s been an unpredictable NASCAR season and the playoff series no doubt has more surprises in store. We suggest a private charter as the perfect way to enjoy this final race of the year.

The 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race will be held on November 10, 2024 at the Phoenix Raceway in Avondale, Arizona. The race runs 312 laps on the one-mile track and crowns the season-long points champion.

Global Air Charters routinely flies to Arizona for sporting events. We’ve touched down in Phoenix for the 2023 Super Bowl and each year for MLB Spring Training. Our customers also love booking a golf getaway in Scottsdale during the fall and winter months.

Here’s our guide to experiencing the best of Phoenix during the NASCAR Cup Series Championship. Contact our flight coordinators to schedule your arrival.

Arrival

Phoenix Raceway is in the far southwest quadrant of metro Phoenix, next to Estrella Mountain Regional Park. If you’re arriving just for the race, Phoenix Goodyear Airport (KGYR) is mere minutes from the racetrack.

If you’re staying somewhere else in Phoenix, you have plenty of arrival options. Though Sky Harbor International (KPHX) is centrally located, we often charter to suburban airfields like Glendale (KGEU), Mesa (KIWA), or Scottsdale (KSDL).

The Race

Blurred race car crossing finish lineAt this point in the season, only the top four drivers in the standings will be eligible to win the championship. Christopher Bell is positioned to be in those top four. He won the Shriners Children’s 500 on this same racetrack back in March.

Current points leader William Byron has 16 top-10 finishes this year and he’s looking for a strong finish in Phoenix. It will likely be the final race for Martin Truex, Jr. The 2017 NASCAR Cup Series champion announced his retirement earlier in the season.

The race is the culmination of NASCAR Championship Weekend. Starting on November 8, there will actually be four season-ending races held during those three days. They include the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship (Nov. 8) and the second-tier NASCAR Xfinity Series championship (Nov. 9).

Reserved grandstand tickets are already sold out, but they’ll appear on the resale market between now and race day. Premium experiences, like luxury hospitality suites and exclusive club level group tickets, are still available.

Desert Golf

Our ultra-long-range Gulfstream airframes have plenty of room for your golf clubs. If you’re going to be down on that side of Phoenix, you should not miss booking a tee time at Golf Club of Estrella.

Just minutes west of the racetrack, it’s an exquisite links carved into the foothills of the Sierra Estrella Mountains. Players here are treated to dramatic views on every hole. The surfaces on this inventive Nicklaus Design course are pristine.

If you want to watch some golf, the Charles Schwab Cup Championship will be held the same weekend. Played at the Phoenix Country Club, it’s the crowning event of the PGA Tour Champions season.

On the Town in Phoenix

The best dining in Phoenix is a world away from the racetrack, but there are a few restaurants worth the long trek into downtown. Bacanora chef Rene Andrade was the 2024 James Beard Award winner for Best Chef: Southwest. Get a spot at the bar and watch elote, ribeyes, and other Sonoran favorites emerge from the wood-fired grill.

We also love the regional Thai dishes at Lom Wong and the eclectic Southwestern plates at Valentine. Hit up Little Rituals for some late-night cocktails in a swanky lounge.

If you venture up to Scottsdale that weekend, get your holiday shopping done at the Fountain Hills Festival of Fine Arts and Crafts. Now in its 50th year, over 150,000 visitors come annually to browse displays from nearly 450 artists in every medium. While you’re in the area, make sure to tour Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West.
