The Future of Private Air Travel
Private charter companies are innovating to create better experiences and a better world
Private air travel has been a hot topic of discussion in recent years due to its record growth. Environmental advocacy groups, regulatory agencies, and world leaders have all issued directives and policy statements on how private air travel should move forward as an industry in the coming years.
The aviation industry aims to work in concert with these groups to create the best solutions that keep us moving forward most responsibly.
As we look into the future of private air travel, operators are thinking about the customer experience, environmental impact, and longevity of our collective business model. Operating on-demand private jets is an inherently challenging business, but those who do it well realize the value of adapting to ever-changing business and geopolitical climates.
The Customer Experience
Charter operators and jet brokers have devised many ways to enhance the experience for their valued clients over the years, whether it’s membership programs, simplified booking experiences, or finding creative ways to lower the cost barrier.
As we look to the future, more innovative solutions from aircraft manufacturers and operators will provide even more value to the passengers who choose private air travel.
Newer aircraft feature thoughtfully crafted interiors meant to lessen the physiological impact of air travel. Cabin lighting is moving towards a more natural and softer feel. Cabin altitudes are lower, and modern jets fly faster than their predecessors.
There is much at stake regarding innovation in private air travel. The economic incentives in this market will continue to drive results that enhance the customer experience.
Environmental Impact of Private Air Travel
Our industry has faced sharp criticism from various environmental protection groups. While we continue to deliver world-class service, we fully recognize, and are working hard to mitigate, the carbon footprint our business leaves on the environment.
Our organization incentivizes Sustainable Aviation Fuels wherever they are offered, but they continue to be cost-prohibitive in the short term. To help mitigate a portion of our environmental impact, we have developed a tree-planting program where clients are offered the opportunity to offset part or all of their flight through reforestation projects in North America.
Another way to reduce the impact of private air travel is an aircraft movement strategy that minimizes repositioning legs where an aircraft needs to fly empty to its next flight. Many organizations are making great strides in becoming lean to minimize empty aircraft flying.
We look forward to using more Sustainable Aviation Fuels, planting more trees, and continuing to trim down empty flights so our business and planet can thrive.
Longevity of Private Air Travel
As we continue to see improvements in aircraft technologies and enhance our sustainable business practices, we are optimistic about the long-term viability of private air travel.
Each charter company in the market will approach the goal of longevity differently. Some have opted to go public to secure funding for growth, others have offered membership programs to incentivize client retention, and some offer aircraft management services in their pursuit of diversification. These strategies can all potentially add value to our industry over the long term.
In the future, charter operators are excited to offer our collective services to a larger audience that will benefit from the efficiency of flying private. As we learn new practices that enhance lean principles, we hope to see the cost-barrier of flying private become easier to cross for those who would benefit from flying on their own time.
